The roles, which include drivers, loaders, supervisors and fleet technicians, will support 12 of Biffa’s 30 local authority contracts, with further vacancies expected in the coming weeks.

From April 2026, Simpler Recycling will standardise bin collections across England, replacing the current patchwork of local rules. Households will use up to four bins for food waste, paper and card, plastic/metal/glass, and non-recyclable waste.

Biffa said the change will reduce confusion and improve recycling rates, after a survey found nearly half of households were unsure which bin to use.

Steve Cole, Managing Director, Biffa Municipal, said: ‘Simpler Recycling may be eight months away, but it’s vital we start recruiting now to make sure we have the best people in place for the successful preparation and delivery of this important change to the way people in England recycle at home.’
