Treka has announced a fully electric 5-tonne mobility range aimed at community transport, SEND, healthcare, local authority and demand responsive transport operators.
The e-Mobility and e-Mobility+ range was developed with Renault Vehicle Innovation. Treka said most electric platforms in the sector are van-derived at around 4.2 tonnes, which limits payload once seating and wheelchair equipment are added.
The coachbuilt e-Mobility+ offers up to 16 seats or six wheelchair positions, while the van model takes up to five wheelchairs. Range is up to 250km (150 miles), depending on specification and duty cycle.
The company said it has kept acquisition costs close to diesel equivalents, so operators do not need Government grants. It also cited lower fuel and maintenance costs, an eight-year battery warranty and a seven-year conversion warranty.
Richard Matthews, sales director at Treka Bus, said electrification ‘must be commercially viable in its own right; customers cannot build their fleet strategies around the assumption that Government grants will always be available.’
