Sweeptech bolsters infrastructure arm with Brooking Hire and Munihire acquisition

Sweeptech Environmental Services has acquired the business and assets of Brooking Hire Ltd and Munihire Operated Ltd, folding both into its existing Contracting Division as part of a push to grow its infrastructure and airport operations.

The deal adds specialist fleet capability, including Back to Black and Quad Vac sweepers alongside larger VT120 and VT1400 series vehicles, boosting Sweeptech’s capacity for major infrastructure projects, airport operations and high-volume sweeping work across the UK.

Management and operational staff from both acquired firms will join a newly created national Contracting Operations structure, designed to give customers a more streamlined route to specialist contracting services.

Sweeptech employs more than 300 people and runs a fleet of over 300 specialist assets from depots across the UK, serving infrastructure operators, Tier 1 contractors and major airports. The company operates the UK’s largest road sweeping and gully waste recycling operation and has been recognised for environmental leadership and innovation.

Chief executive Martin Smith said the acquisition strengthens the firm’s ability to support infrastructure and airport customers nationally, calling Brooking and Munihire ‘highly complementary’ additions that increase capacity and fleet strength. He added that the move reflects Sweeptech’s continued reinvestment in people, technology and long-term resilience despite challenging economic conditions.
