Bread Pitt hits the road in Hinckley & Bosworth

A fleet of nine food waste collection vehicles — with names chosen by local residents — has hit the streets of Hinckley & Bosworth as the borough launches a new weekly food waste recycling service.

The Isuzu trucks, supplied by long-standing fleet partner Specialist Fleet Services Ltd (SFS), each carry a resident-suggested name on the front, with Bread Pitt and Peels on Wheels among the favourites.

The free service, which runs on the same day as existing collections, will see food waste converted into renewable energy rather than sent to landfill.

The rollout is fully Government-funded following new regulations making food waste collections mandatory across the UK.

Executive Member Lynda Hodgkins said the service was ‘a simple change that makes a big difference — reducing harmful emissions, generating green energy, and keeping bins cleaner and fresher.’

SFS, which signed an eight-year fleet management agreement with the council in March 2025, has worked with Hinckley & Bosworth for over 20 years.
