The first Future Fleet Forum in 2015 had a strong theme of procurement running through it. There was a chorus of dissatisfaction with the status quo and some very different opinions were voiced. There were complaints about the practicalities of implementing improvements in cash-poor, time-poor environments and advice on how to make things easier and fairer for both suppliers and buyers.
As a result of last year’s Future Fleet Forum, the Future Fleet Procurement Working group was set up. The group consists of private sector suppliers, public sector buyers, industry organisations such as FORS and CILT, leading academics and procurement and finance organisations.
The aim of the group is to improve communication between all parties involved in the procurement process, and ultimately come up with a best practice guide for the procurement of fleet and related services. During this session progress of the group is highlighted and interesting insights and tips for success will be revealed.
The Future Fleet Forum Procurement Group has been working towards creating a Best Practice document, providing guidelines and advice for both buyers and suppliers.
Sylvie Giangolini, managing director of Hako Machines, and Phil Clifford, fleet manager at West Sussex Councils, are both members of the Future Fleet Procurement Working Group and they will present the progress up to date as well as outlining what lies ahead.
