The council will replace 16 of its 32 RCVs which were purchased in 2016 and have been nearing the end of their operational lifespan.
A report states these 16 trucks have been plagued with ‘increasing faults and breakdowns’ which have impacted operations.
The new diesel-powered RCVs will cost £250,000 each bringing the total cost up to £4m, which would be spread over a two-year period.
The council is also proposing to invest £375,000 in plant equipment to undertake grounds maintenance and street cleansing.
