The fleet of refuse collection vehicles at Newark & Sherwood District Council will be promoting a range of council campaigns, covering actions from fly-tipping to recycling, through graphic messages on their sides.

Fifteen of the council's refuse trucks have been fitted with the Spedian vehicle graphics system which allows promotional panels to be changed, stored and used again. The flexibility of the lightweight, reusable system makes it useful for seasonal campaigns.

While the council has had one or two lorries fitted with graphics in the past, this is the first time its entire refuse fleet ' apart from two back-up vehicles ' has been involved in promotional campaigning.

Phil Hadfield, environment projects officer at Newark & Sherwood District Council, said: 'The fact that the graphics panels are removeable is a huge benefit.

'We can swap them and refresh the messages so that they have more impact. We intend to change the messages every six months or so'
