Lightweight, reusable graphics panels from Spedian helped Aberdeen City Council inform residents of changes to its collection service for household dry recycling waste.
The graphics were mounted on eight new refuse trucks. These were part of the council's wider public information campaign to highlight collection changes that saw wheelie bins replace the black box and white bag collection system that was previously in operation.
As a result of the changes, householders no longer need to separate their recycling between bins and bags as everything can now go into the recycling wheelie bins.
Paul Walker, waste strategy manager for Aberdeen City Council, said that the public information campaign will last for six months, and the message may be reinforced with new graphics over the course of the campaign.
'We are introducing a big service change across the city from a kerbside sort to a wheeled bin service for mixed, dry recycling,' he explained. 'The fact that we can change the graphics panels quickly and easily was one of the reasons we chose the Spedian system'
The Spedian system can be fitted or removed from a vehicle in less than an hour and requires no screws, nails or rivets, and leaves no sticky residue. Panels can also be stored and used again.
