Vehicle hire company Go Plant is to have Sentinel safety systems installed across its entire fleet of 300 vehicles after running extensive trials with different specialist companies.

Sentinel will be supplying and installing its complete five-camera and side-scan cyclist detection system to Go Plant's fleet, which includes refuse collection and recycling vehicles, large and pedestrian sweepers, gully emptying and water removal solutions and street cleaners.

The five-camera systems will cover the rear, sides and front of the vehicles including all blind spots and will be linked to an in-cab monitor. Drivers will be alerted when cyclists approach on the nearside blind spot, allowing them to take caution when manoeuvring. The cameras will also drivers reversing, reducing the risk of collisions and damage, which can be costly.

The vehicles are based in nine depots across England and Wales, including Go Plant's headquarters in Ibstock, Leicestershire.
