Three articulated dump trucks have been retrofitted with diesel particulate filters (DPFs) from Eminox by W E Hewitt & Son to make them compliant with requirements of the London Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) low emission zone.

The company, which specialises in the design, construction and maintenance of natural grass sports surfaces, works on several sports grounds in London's NRMM LEZ, including Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane.

All NRMMs with engines that have a net power of 37kW and 560kW and are to be used on any major development within Greater London are now required to meet Stage IIIA emissions regulations or are required to retrofit the best available technology. And NRMMs used on any site within the Central Activity Zone or Canary Wharf have to meet Stage IIIB as a minimum. The three articulated dump trucks are JCB 714s and have an engine power of 123KW which fall within these parameters.

By retrofitting Eminox CRTs, Hewitt Sportsturf has ensured that its machinery is suitable for use anywhere within Greater London, including the Central Activity Zone and Canary Wharf.

The CRTs were retrofitted by Eminox fitters at Hewitt Sportsturf premises, providing a convenient, flexible and practical service that avoided disruption to the company's busy schedule.
