Biffa has launched its new emergency waste removal service - Oncecall - with a quartet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans.

Three long-bodied Sprinter 313 CDIs have already been delivered to launch the new Biffa OneCall service and five more have been ordered. Another Sprinter 313 CDI has been fitted with cage bodywork by Tipmaster, of London.

Biffa OneCall offers emergency waste removal from a single point of contact, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and provides response times starting from as little as three hours.

'It's a premium service which supports businesses around the clock,' said supply chain & logistics category manager Will Gallagher.

'We could be dealing with anything from fly-tipped waste, to fire or flood damage, freezer breakdowns, pollution spills or even asbestos removal.'

'The crucial aspect of the service is the speed of response, following just one call, so reliability was the paramount factor when we came to choose vehicles.

'We've operated Mercedes-Benz vans for many years and know from this experience that they won't let us down. The Sprinters also look extremely smart in our new livery and if Biffa OneCall takes off as quickly as we believe it will, we'll soon be adding more to the fleet.'

In addition to the four Biffa OneCall vehicles, the Wellingborough branch of dealer Intercounty Truck & Van supplied Biffa with 15 Medium-length Sprinter 313 CDIs, six New Vito 111 CDI crew vans, four New Vito 111 CDI vans, 10 Citan 111 CDI Longs and six Extra-long Citan 111 CDI crew vans with second rows of seats, allowing each to carry a driver and up to four passengers. These will mainly be used by mobile engineers and refuse collection managers.
