One of London's leading waste management companies O'Donovan Waste Disposal is sponsoring the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport's (CILT) Public Authority Lean Benchmarking (Palmark) Club.

The Institute's Palmark Club was launched in 2012 to enable public authority members to demonstrate the delivery of lean and efficient public services.

Benchmarking enables authorities to pursue operational excellence in 12 critical business areas:

  • fleet
  • work related road safety
  • HR and continuous improvement
  • operations
  • risk management
  • passenger transport
  • environment
  • outsourcing
  • vehicle maintenance
  • procurement
  • purchasing and
  • collaborative working

O'Donovan was keen to support the ethos of the Palmark Club which has an overarching aim to lead the way in operational excellence in its sector. Its sponsorship will provide the business with excellent interaction opportunities with other fleet management professionals, all of whom share the same goals.

Managing Director Jacqueline O'Donovan said: 'As a FORS Gold operator, O'Donovan understands the benefits of benchmarking. As part of our FORS accreditation, we constantly evaluate multiple aspects of our business to compare against industry averages.

'By sponsoring Palmark we are demonstrating our support for fleet management improvements across the Public Sector. Ultimately we are all operating fleets and need to collaborate at every opportunity.'

Chris Ruane, Public Authority Development Officer for CILT, said: 'Public authorities join the Palmark club to pursue operational excellence. The Institute and its Palmark members are delighted that O'Donovan Waste Disposal, with its award-winning pedigree, is sponsoring this most worthy benchmarking club.'
