Driver and fleet performance specialists GreenRoad have renewed their contract with with one of Britain's biggest bus operators, First Bus, for three more years.

GreenRoad has provided the technology for First Bus's Drive Green initiative which provides a safer, smoother journey and reduces the company's carbon footprint since 2009.

Devices installed in every First Bus vehicle monitor vehicle operations and an LED indicator provides instant feedback to drivers when they carry out manoeuvers such as braking, accelerating and turning. Drivers are individually assessed with lower scores indicating more safe and fuel-efficient driving behaviour.

Mark Munday, Technical Director at First Bus, said: 'We're pleased to be continuing a successful partnership with GreenRoad. The DriveGreen technology has made a positive impact on our business, helping us improve our safety performance, reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency and provide a smoother journey for our customers. We look forward to working with colleagues at GreenRoad over the next three years to build on the good work already achieved.'

First Bus also participates in GreenRoad's Fleet Elite program, which recognises the drivers with the very lowest safety scores in GreenRoad fleets. In the last qualifying year, 840 First Bus drivers received the award. A third of those drivers received the very highest Gold award, indicating that they had achieved Fleet Elite status for the third consecutive year.

'We are proud that First Bus, the leading bus operator in the UK, has chosen to continue using GreenRoad to improve its fleet performance, said Zeev Braude, CEO of GreenRoad.

'First Bus serves as a sterling example of how, by leveraging GreenRoad, bus and coach operators can work closely with their drivers to create a safer, greener, more cost-effective fleet together.'
