Johnston Sweepers has launched the C202 compact sweeper which has the ability to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel.

The new machine is based on the C201 but has undergone and extensve overhaul with a host of new features for enhanced performance and ride comfort, together with reduced running costs and lower impact on the environment.

The C202 is available in two models ' the CN202, with up to 40 km/h transit speed, and the CX202, which travels up to 50 km/h.

Both models have all-new brakes, tyres, axle and latest Euro 6C low emissions engine , as well as an array of recently-introduced sweep system and cab upgrades. There is also a Stage 5 engine alternative available.

The new machine is also able to use HVO fuel which Johnston says is a first for the UK market. The colourless liquid has the same chemical composition and productive output as diesel but with none of the harmful properties, burning cleaner and with significantly lower NOx and other environment-damaging emissions.

The main advantage is that it can be added to existing fuel tanks without modifications or loss of warranty, and with no need to clean out storage tanks ' just fill them up and go. It can be mixed with diesel if required, and is fully interchangeable from fill to fill.

Johnston's engineering team has designed a brand new braking system for the latest C202, using front disks to improve braking ability and consistency of performance.

There is also a new wider front axle which improves stability and handling, while retaining the manoeuvrability and flexibility of the Johnston Compact.

Also new to the C202 are tubeless Continental tyres. Previous models have been fitted with heavy-duty tyres but punctured tyres ' if driven on ' could be costly to replace. The new tubeless tyres have the same heavy-duty properties but deflate slowly if punctured, allowing the tyre to be repaired to save money.

The C202 also has a roomy new cab with a removable glass floor and grille in the cab for ease of access for cleaning and increased visibility. Extra-long red webbing seat belts meet the latest ECE Regulation 16 restraint rules.  And multi-directional air vents and a new air conditioning system help operator comfort.

LED work lights replace the halogen lights, providing more powerful lighting and reducing bulb-replacement, which reduces costs and downtime.

Johnston Sweepers' Data Capture feature is fitted as standard allowing a wide range of data to be downloaded via a USB stick and viewed through any standard spreadsheet package.

And the C202 is also fitted with Johnston's SmartLink  vehicle tracking and management system, helping customers to manage their sweeper fleets more efficiently and helping Johnston's after-sales team get customers' machines repaired and back out working more quickly than ever.

The latest Johnston C202 was unveiled at the IFAT show in May and is now on sale in the UK immediately.
