Whale Tankers has appointed Robert Frew as the new Regional Sales Manager for Scotland. He is replacing Alan Steel who retired in April.

A well-known figure in the industry, Robert joins Whale having spent nine years with Johnston Sweepers, where he was regional sales manager.

Educated at Strathaven Academy, Robert began his career as an HGV mechanic and he later moved into sales having gained an HND in management from Loughborough College.

He spent a number of years at Volvo Trucks where he held several roles including regional sales manager and sales engineer, before working on municipal vehicle sales.

Robert Frew said: 'My remit is to maintain and increase the level of sales with the Scottish local authorities, while expanding our presence with private and industrial operators.

'Our goal is to identify new products and opportunities, including sales of some of the smaller and more bespoke equipment.

'Whale has an impressive name and standing within the industry and the quality and flexibility of their products speak for themselves among customers. Everyone at Whale has a high level of technical knowledge and experience and I'm excited to be part of what is a very close-knit team, with a real family feel to the company'

Chris Anderson, commercial director for Whale Tankers, said: 'We're delighted to have Robert on board.  We're confident his extensive industry knowledge and experience will make a significant contribution to our sales effort'
