The Scottish Highlands-based bus and coach hire business Shiel Buses has added a 9.2m Optare Solo to its fleet.

The Mercedes Euro 5, 9.2m, Low Carbon Solo with Allison 2100 transmission seats up to 30 and will operate on routes around Fort William and Lochaber.

David MacGillivray, director at the family-owned business, said: 'We selected the Solo for its excellent seating capacity, while still being of a size that permits ease of operation in residential urban areas and more remote rural locations'

Optare has a modern assembly facility near Leeds, Yorkshire, employing around 300 people. Optare group PLC is part of Ashok Leyland, one of the four largest global bus producers and part of the Hinduja Group.
