The success of two existing Stertil Koni vehicle lifts was a major factor in ordering a SKY 250 Skylift for the vehicle washbay in Beverley, says East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The new Skylift, with a lifting capacity of 25 tonnes, steam cleans all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes in the council's fleet, including refuse collection trucks, gritting lorries and specialist road chipping and tar spraying machines.
These operations take about 20 hours a week and for an additional ten hours a week the skylift is used for other tasks, including the wax-oiling of the council's winter maintenance vehicles.
Stertil Koni's Skylift offers available platform lengths of between seven and 14.5m and ' even with the longest platform ' only two lifting legs are required. Each leg has its own measuring device to help smooth and level synchronisation to within 15mm.
The Skylift is available in three lifting capacity options ' 20, 25 and 35 tonnes ' and provides a lifting height of 1.75m in just 89 seconds. Also, the compactness of the Skylift makes it a more viable option than some other lifts in smaller spaces. It also features galvanised platforms and run-ups, stainless steel axle pins plus waterproof fixtures and fittings.
It has an independent mechanical locking system, which remains active whatever the height. All models can be installed either recessed or surface mounted with varying platform lengths to accommodate any vehicle.
'We have been using a pair of Stertil Koni vehicle lifts for a number of years,' said Philip Burgess, assistant fleet services manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
'They have provided the performance quality and reliability we demand so, when we needed to replace a 40-year-old washbay ramp, we had no hesitation in specifying the new SKY 250 Skylift'
