CD Enviro has produced a new system for treating road sweepings and construction and demolition materials.
These materials are difficult materials to process, posing physical cleanliness and chemical cleanliness issues for the water treatment systems associated with these plants.
Sean Dobbs, product development engineer with CDEnviro, said; 'Having identified and tested a number of existing solutions we discovered that none of these current market offerings was able to show any real improvement. So we undertook an 18-month research project with Trinity College Dublin, to develop our own solution.
'This led to our newest product ' Co:flo ' which results in 5-10 times cleaner water than that of a traditional high-rate clarification system.
'Co:flo marks a significant step forward in technology, emphasized by the multiple patents pending around the design.'
Martin Bladon, Suez site manager of the Willenhall road sweepings processing plant where Co:flo was installed in June 2014, said: 'Since it's installation we have noticed a significant increase in the level of contamination in our centrifuge cake which is a testament to the effectiveness of the Co:flo.
'We have also had the added bonus of being able to increase plant throughput due to this new level of performance.
'As a result, our sand and aggregate products are now within the aggregate quality protocol limits and consequentially we are now just weeks away from having these products de-classified as waste and certified for re-use.
'This is a significant milestone not just for SUEZ but also for the road sweeping process industry as a whole and we are proud to be leading the way.'
