RVS commercial director Paul Brown demonstrated different aspects of RCV design to pupils at Rednock Secondary School as part of a careers days focused on science, technology, electronics and maths subjects.
The careers fair saw presentations delivered by companies involved in virtual reality, DNA technology, construction and law, including the University of Bristol, which carried out science experiments and set mini challenges for pupils.
Refuse Vehicle Solutions brought along a Dennis Olympus 6x2 Rear Steer with Terberg automatic lift and one of its service vans to assist with its presentations, which Rednock's careers advisor Tim Justice said were very popular with students.
'The style of the presentation from RVS, using real trucks, was fun and really engaged students who prefer hands-on learning,' said Tim.
'We were all surprised to learn about the level of engineering, design technology, and maths that goes into creating and operating waste lorries. The students really benefited from seeing a real-life application of what they are learning in the classroom, making the link to machinery that we all rely on to do a vital job in our communities'
Paul Brown from RVS said: 'The students seemed genuinely interested in what we were showing them. We have always been impressed with the school and we currently employ four ex-pupils as apprentice mechanics'
