A group of 14 employees has achieved 300 years working for Stertil UK. Managing director, Martin Paynter, presented long service awards to them at the company's headquarters in Northampton, recognising their hard work, loyalty and commitment.

He said Stertil's philosophy of ensuring that every employee has the opportunity to fulfil his or her potential within the company often meant employees transferred between different departments. Typical of these is Paul Foster who began working for Stertil in 1990 as a service co-ordinator before becoming a service manager before moving to the sales team where he is now an area sales manager.

But in contrast, the company's longest serving employee, Tony Jackson, joined Stertil as a warehouseman more than 35 years ago and has continued in that role though his responsibilities have broadened as the company has grown.

'In today's challenging business conditions, I believe that these long service awards are a clear indication of how employers and employees can demonstrate loyalty to one another,' said Martin Paynter.

'As a company, we constantly strive to ensure excellent working conditions and continual training for our staff. They, in turn, not only work conscientiously but also frequently go the extra mile to ensure that our customers receive top quality service and support at all times'
