It is with great sadness that LAPV announces that the editor of LocalGov, Laura Sharman, has died after a short illness.

Laura was editor of public sector website LocalGov from its launch, developing it into a flourishing news and feature website with a market-leading online recruitment business.

She also produced the long-established quarterly vehicles title LAPV with William Eichler, also assistant editor of LocalGov, and for a while edited new launch Public Property.

Laura joined LocalGov’s publisher Hemming Group (HGL) in 2007 when the magazine she then edited, Local Government News, was purchased by the company.

HGL editorial director Michael Burton said: ‘Laura was a complete professional, always ready to take on new challenges and always cheerful. Despite being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment she insisted on working whenever she felt able to. Her sudden death just before Christmas came as a shock to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by her colleagues and her family.’

Laura asked for any donations to be sent to the Priscilla Bacon Hospice. Her tribute page is at https://laurasharman.muchloved.com/
