Portfolio holder for children’s services Linda Tock said: ‘Upwards of 1,300 children are transported to and from school each day in Hull, so easy access to transport is essential.’

The three new Fiat ultra-low floor Orion accessible buses, supplied by Mellor, have space for up to 16 passengers per vehicle.

The council said the vehicles were funded by Kingstown Works Limited as part of its annual vehicle replacement program.

Portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways Mark Ieronimo said: ‘They are designed to accommodate students with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs, and will be staffed by trained drivers and attendants who are experienced in working with young people with disabilities.

‘Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and reliable transportation service that meets the needs of all our students.’
