Bedford Borough Council has added 16 new electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet as part of its plans to reduce its carbon emissions.

The new EVs will replace the least environmentally friendly vehicles in the local authority's fleet and will help it to achieve its commitment of becoming net carbon neutral by 2030.

'We have committed to ensure our new vehicles make a positive step to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving our ambitious objectives,' a council spokesperson said.

'As part of our efforts to address the climate emergency, we will continue to look at other opportunities to make our own operations more sustainable, while enabling other organisations in the Borough to do the same.'
